Mumbai has more dog-friendly cafes than most Indian cities, and Bandra and Khar have the most. Many still keep dogs to an outdoor or separate area, out of respect for diners who are nervous around animals, so call ahead and ask where your dog can sit. These are the places we could confirm in October 2026.

Bandra and Khar

Mary Lodge by Subko, Bandra West. A coffee house in an old bungalow on Chapel Road in Ranwar. Dogs are welcome at the outdoor tables. There’s no dog menu, so carry a treat.

Doolally Taproom, Khar West. One of the city’s best-known places to drink with your dog. A 2023 report said they serve pets plain chicken, paneer or rice for free; ask if they still do.

Cafe Out of the Blue, Khar West. In Le Sutra Hotel on Union Park, with outdoor seating. It has hosted pet events, like painting sessions with rescued dogs, so watch their page for the next one.

Frozen Fun Gelato and Cafe, Pali Hill. A leafy outdoor section where dogs can sit with you.

NOVA Artisan Gelato, Bandra. Leashed dogs are allowed. Good for an evening walk with a stop.

Lower Parel and BKC

Zane’s Cafe, Lower Parel. Built with dogs in mind: dogs are allowed inside, there’s a pet menu with homemade meals and treats, and a pet spa upstairs. They let dogs off the leash in a controlled space, so it suits dogs that are good with other dogs. Check the address before you go, as listings give two different mill compounds.

SAZ American Brasserie, Jio World Drive, BKC. In 2025 it had a dog menu made with Heads Up For Tails, with a chicken stew and a dog ice cream. We couldn’t confirm the dog menu is still running in 2026, so ask when you book.

Colaba and south Mumbai

Mag St., Colaba. Outdoor tables on Mandlik Road, and staff have been known to order plain boiled chicken for a puppy. A reviewer notes this is Mag St.’s only pet-friendly branch, so don’t count on the others.

Andheri and Versova

Shelter by Javaphile, Versova. A big three-floor cafe with a rooftop, with room for dogs to move around and settle.

Leaping Windows, Versova. The comic book cafe. Leashed dogs can sit in the outdoor section, not inside.

Communion Cafe, CBD Belapur. In Sector 15, a big space where dogs can relax, and it’s listed as pet friendly on EazyDiner. Worth the drive if you live on the harbour side.

Before you go

  • Call first. Some places only take dogs at certain times, or only outside. A rule that applied last year may not apply now.
  • Ask where your dog will sit. With a big dog, ask for an outdoor table or a corner with room to lie down.
  • Take a water bowl, a short leash and a towel for your dog to lie on, and walk your dog before you sit down, so it’s ready to rest.
  • Don’t feed from the table. Onion, garlic, chocolate and grapes are common in cafe food, and the ASPCA lists them all as foods to keep from dogs. If your dog gets something it shouldn’t, call your vet.
  • Mind the heat. Midday pavements get hot enough to hurt paws. More in heatstroke in dogs.
