Last checked: 22 October 2026. Every rule below links to the order or news report it comes from. The Noida Authority runs the city’s parks, 726 of them in 2021 (Hindustan Times, 7 Apr 2021), and writes its pet policy; Greater Noida has its own authority and rules, further down. Read the board at the park gate too. For the rest of the NCR, see dog parks in Delhi and dog parks in Gurgaon.
The short answers
- Is there a dog park in Noida? One that we know of: the Noida Authority’s dog park next to the Sector 137 metro station, opened in June 2023. The Authority’s horticulture department still listed it among its works in 2026 (Noida Authority, 2026), but the newest news report we found is from February 2024, so we couldn’t confirm it’s open to visitors, or its hours today.
- Can I walk my dog in Noida’s parks? Yes, on a leash. In 2021 the Authority began blacking out the “no pets” line on its park boards, after the Animal Welfare Board of India (AWBI) told it to let pets in (Times of India, 7 Apr 2021).
- Do I have to register my dog? Yes. In Noida it’s ₹500 a year on the Authority’s NAPR app; in Greater Noida it’s free on the Authority’s Mitra app.
- What if my dog bites someone? Under Noida’s pet policy you pay a ₹10,000 penalty and the injured person’s treatment. Police can also register a case under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, India’s criminal code, as they did after a dog killed a pug in a Sector 93B society (Hindustan Times, 14 Oct 2026).
- Can my society keep dogs out of its park? Noida’s policy says residents’ and apartment associations (RWAs and AOAs) can’t add pet rules of their own, and the AWBI calls park bans “short-sighted”.
The Sector 137 dog park
The Noida Authority’s horticulture department built Noida’s first dog park on a two-acre plot next to the Aqua Line’s Sector 137 metro station (Hindustan Times, 27 May 2023). The Times of India also says two acres; India Today gave 3.85 acres, built for ₹3.85 crore (India Today, 15 Jun 2023).
- Opened: June 2023, with two pools for dogs and walking paths. The vet clinic, canteen and toilets were built but not yet open (Times of India, 5 Jun 2023), and in August 2023 the Authority said the vet clinic would be added “very soon” (Hindustan Times, 26 Aug 2023).
- Hours: 6 am to noon and 5 pm to 10 pm, as announced in June 2023 (Times of India).
- Who gets in: only dogs registered on Noida’s pet registration app (India Today). In February 2024 the Authority said a hired agency would check each dog’s registration on the app at the gate (Times of India, 6 Feb 2024).
- Fee: no report mentions an entry fee. The agency was to run the park for a share of its revenue plus a yearly licence fee (Times of India, Feb 2024), so ask about charges.
- Off the leash? An Authority official said registration lets dogs “be left in the open to interact with other dogs and people” there (Times of India, Feb 2024). We found no posted leash rule for inside the park.
Is it still open? In February 2024 the Times of India reported the park “hasn’t seen many visitors” since it opened. The Authority’s horticulture department still listed the Sector 137 dog park among its works in 2026 (Noida Authority, 2026), but we found no report on its hours or visitors since February 2024, so we couldn’t confirm it’s open to visitors, whether the agency was hired, or today’s hours. Ask dog parents nearby before you make the trip.
Noida’s parks: what the rules say
In early 2021 dog lovers sent the AWBI photos of the “No pets” boards in Noida’s parks; the Board told the Authority to let pets in, and from 10 March 2021 the line started coming off the boards (Hindustan Times, 7 Apr 2021). Officials said the Authority could set dog timings and post guards at large parks to let in only leashed dogs with a scoop and bags (Times of India, 7 Apr 2021). We found no city-wide dog hours set since.
Noida’s pet policy was approved at the Authority’s board meeting on 12 November 2022 and came into force on 12 December 2022 (Hindustan Times, 13 Dec 2022). For walks, it says:
- Leash your dog whenever it’s out of the house, and don’t leave it unsupervised (Hindustan Times).
- Don’t leave it alone in a public park, and clean up if it poops. If you don’t, it’s ₹100 the first time, ₹200 the second and ₹500 the third (Indian Express, 12 Dec 2022).
- If your dog bites or attacks someone, you pay a ₹10,000 penalty after the Authority looks into the complaint, and you pay for the injured person’s treatment (Times of India, 13 Dec 2022).
- Lifts: take the service lift where possible; the policy advises a muzzle in lifts (Hindustan Times; Times of India, Dec 2022). The reports mention no muzzle rule for parks.
When walkers at Meghdootam Park, Sector 50, complained in 2023 about big dogs let off the leash, an Authority officer said: “No dog is allowed in any public space without a leash” (Times of India, 8 May 2023). In April 2026 the Times of India still described the policy as requiring a leash in common areas (Times of India, 1 Apr 2026).
Big parks we couldn’t confirm: the Okhla Bird Sanctuary, a wildlife sanctuary on the Yamuna (Gautam Buddh Nagar district), and the Botanic Garden of Indian Republic in Sector 38A, whose “Do’s & Don’ts” page was empty when we checked (Botanical Survey of India). We found no published dog rule for either, so ask at the gate.
Society and colony parks
The Animal Welfare Board of India (AWBI), the statutory board under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, tells housing societies that “seeking to ban pets from gardens or parks, is short-sighted” and suggests agreeing dog timings instead; they can’t keep pets out of lifts either (AWBI guidelines, 26 Feb 2015). For public parks, in a 2016 letter to Delhi’s parks authority, the Board said leashed dogs walked by adults “will not therefore be banned”, and that parks can set reasonable dog hours instead (AWBI, 15 Nov 2016).
Both Noida’s and Greater Noida’s authorities say pet rules are theirs to make:
- Noida’s 2022 policy says RWAs and AOAs can’t impose any additional restrictions or rules on keeping pets (Times of India, 13 Dec 2022).
- In 2022 the Greater Noida Authority told ATS Greens Paradiso to stop fining dog parents, saying it “is only entitled to make pet policies” (Times of India, 11 Sep 2022). Its 2024 policy says RWAs and AOAs shouldn’t make their own pet rules (Times of India, 15 Sep 2024).
If a “No dogs” board goes up, don’t argue with the guard. Ask the RWA for agreed dog timings, and point to the AWBI’s guidelines and your authority’s policy.
Feeding street dogs: the Supreme Court’s August 2025 order says street dogs are fed only at feeding spaces marked in each ward, never on the street (Supreme Court, 22 Aug 2025), and in May 2026 it ordered “strict and faithful compliance” with that order (Supreme Court, 19 May 2026). Noida is putting up boards to mark its feeding points (Times of India, 14 Feb 2026).
Registering your dog in Noida
- Where: the Noida Authority’s NAPR app on Android (NAPR on Google Play). News18 reported in 2023 that it was also on iPhone (News18, 31 Oct 2023), but we couldn’t find it on the App Store in October 2026.
- Cost: ₹500 a year, renewed every April. If you’re late, it’s ₹200 more for the first month, then ₹10 a day (Times of India, 13 Dec 2022). It was ₹1,000 when the app launched in 2021 (PTI via Deccan Herald, 16 Sep 2021); we found no change since 2022.
- What you need: your dog’s details and photos, your photo ID and address proof (Indian Express, 19 Nov 2022), and its vaccination certificate from a registered vet (Times of India, Dec 2022).
- Sterilisation and rabies shots: the policy notified in December 2022 made both compulsory by 31 January 2023, with a fine of ₹2,000 for every month a dog stays unsterilised (Times of India, 13 Dec 2022). Many dog parents objected to the sterilisation clause (Times of India, 20 Nov 2022); advocate Anjali Sharma, a former AWBI board member, said the animal birth control rules only recommend it for pet dogs. Ask your vet when sterilisation suits your dog.
- Adopted a street dog? Families with up to ten dogs adopted from the street or a shelter are exempt from registration and get the first vaccination and sterilisation free (Indian Express, 12 Dec 2022). The Sector 137 park still asks for registration.
Greater Noida
The Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) makes the rules here. Greater Noida West (Noida Extension) is under GNIDA too, not the Noida Authority (PTI via The Week, 3 Jan 2024). GNIDA revised its pet policy in 2024:
- Registration is free on GNIDA’s Mitra app, renewed every year. Not registering can cost ₹2,000 (Hindustan Times, 15 Aug 2024). In January 2025 over 500 applications were stuck, about 50 certificates had been issued, and the fine wasn’t being charged (Times of India, 21 Jan 2025).
- On walks: GNIDA advises a leash in public spaces. If your pet attacks someone, police act under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and you’re held responsible (Times of India, 15 Sep 2024).
- Lifts: use the service lift; the residents’ lift only if nobody in it objects (Times of India, 15 Sep 2024).
- Still in force: the 2024 policy, with its leash and waste rules, remained in effect in November 2025 (Times of India, 10 Nov 2025).
We found no dog park built by GNIDA, and no private dog park in Noida or Greater Noida that we could confirm from its own website.
What to carry
- A leash no longer than six feet, as the AWBI’s 2016 parks guidelines ask. Noida’s policy needs one whenever your dog is out of the house.
- Poop bags, more than you think.
- Photos of your dog’s registration and rabies vaccination certificates on your phone.
- Water and a bowl. In summer, go early in the morning or late in the evening, and test the path: hold your hand on it for five seconds, and if it’s too hot for you, walk later (Dogs Trust). See heatstroke in dogs.
Puppies: wait until your vet says your puppy’s vaccinations protect it before taking it to busy parks, see the puppy vaccination schedule. Ticks: after walks through long grass, see how to check your dog for ticks.
Park manners
- Keep the leash on in public parks. In Noida it’s the rule.
- Pick up every poop and bin it.
- Ask before your dog greets another dog or a person.
- Keep a female in heat at home.
- If your dog bites, stay. Share your number and show your dog’s rabies vaccination record. A bitten person should wash the wound with soap and water for at least 15 minutes and see a doctor (WHO). A bitten dog should see a vet. In Noida you pay for the treatment anyway.
To report a dog bite or a stray dog problem, the Noida Authority’s helpline is 1800 202 3601 (Noida Authority). More for a first visit: dog park etiquette. FAQs
Is there an off-leash dog park in Noida? The Noida Authority’s Sector 137 dog park, for registered dogs, is the only one we found, and we couldn’t confirm it’s still open or whether dogs can be off the leash inside. In Noida’s other public parks, the rule is a leash.
Are Pit Bulls or Rottweilers banned in Noida? We found no breed ban by the Noida Authority. Neighbouring Ghaziabad banned Pit Bulls, Rottweilers and Dogo Argentinos in 2022 (Times of India, 13 Dec 2022; Indian Express, 19 Nov 2022). A March 2024 circular from the Centre banning the import, sale and breeding of 23 breeds, Pit Bulls and Rottweilers among them, was set aside by the Delhi High Court (LiveLaw, 18 Apr 2024). In Noida, the leash rule and the ₹10,000 bite penalty apply to all pet dogs.
Can my RWA fine me for walking my dog in the society park? The AWBI says societies have no mandate in law to fine dog parents (AWBI, 2015), and Noida’s policy says RWAs can’t add their own pet rules. In 2022 Greater Noida’s authority told a society to stop such fines (Times of India, 11 Sep 2022).
